Paris Restaurant Recs!

What’s one thing I love as much as I love Paris? The food in Paris😏. Here are my favorite spots from my recent trip!

Ober Mama - Ober Mama is one of the Big Mama Group’s “low-key” restaurants. Although it’s not as popular as Pink Mama (which I still need to try☺️), Ober Mama has an almost identical menu so you can still have all of your favorites without enduring the Pink Mama wait or the struggle of booking a reservation. What to order: truffle pasta🤤

La Société - I dined at La Société for New Year’s Eve. I admit that it is overpriced, but the ambiance was very hip and trendy with a darker mood. The food was yummy but nothing super special and memorable. The restaurant is in the center of Saint-Germain. Make sure to make a reservation in advance!

Les Deux Magots - One of the most iconic French cafés in Paris, Les Deux Magots is the perfect breakfast to feel like a true Parisian. While the restaurant is always packed with a waiting queue outside, the inside truly feels timeless. You’re transported to Paris in the 1920’s! Les Deux Magots was a home to Ernest Hemingway and many writers of the Lost Generation. Order a hot chocolate and croissant, sit back and enjoy the ambiance which once hosted all the literary legends of modernism.

Toraya - At Place Vendome is a hidden gem of Paris, the Toraya Japanese patisserie and tea house. This Japanese tea shop is very popular among the French locals for afternoon tea or a dessert pick me up, but what’s not talked about is their delicious food. Toraya’s lunch menu was the most scrumptious and fresh meal I’ve had in Paris, maybe all of France. I ordered the matcha soba bento combo which was more of a soba salad. The ingredients were so fresh and light, and a cup of tea is included!

Ladurée - Ladurée macaroons are sweet for the soul! There are locations all over Paris, some that only sell macaroons and other locations that have full service tea! While the macaroons are pricey, there’s a reason they’re famous, they are delicious! There are also a few Ladurée locations in the United States as well.

Le Relais de l'Entrecôte - Le Relais de l'Entrecôte is widely known as the “steak and fries restaurant” in Paris. Every customer starts with a salad and bread, then comes your helping of steak and fries. This institution is run by diligent women who know how to run the place, and you don't interfere with their system, sorry vegetarians! Be aware that the line is down the block every night. I recommend arriving 30 minutes before opening so you can be seated for the first seating of the night. They pack the restaurant to max capacity, so if you don’t receive entry in the first seating, you’ll be waiting around 45 minutes until the next group. Is the steak frites worth the hype? absolutely YES. What makes the steak special is the impeccable sauce au poivre. While the line can be quite discouraging, it is worth the experience at least once on a trip to Paris. Steak lovers unite!
